I will say that as a DM and a player, that’s not super satisfying, and I’d want to either just handwave or find some other way around that. You can wield one and fire the same one twice using the extra attack feature as long as your other hand is free to load it. When you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you’re holding in one hand, you can use a bonus action to attack with a different light melee weapon that you’re holding in the other hand. correct? Strictly as written, that’s correct. So the answer is no, you cannot dual wield hand crossbows then since one hand needs to be available to load it as part of the attack. There are a few interesting interactions with this feat, mainly with the extra attack. BUT you cant reload any of them since that requires a free hand. Unlike normal crossbows, one hand crossbow can be dual-wielded. sevenfoothamster 11:50pm Originally posted by Dargsy Wargon: Originally posted by Hjarl: In 5e you can dual wield them. Hypotetically: i have a rapier in my main hand and a hand crossbow in the off hand Attack action with the main hand, crossbow expert kicks in, bonus attack with hand crossbow the round after that i can’t shoot with my crossbow because i needed a free hand to reload. One hand crossbow 5e Hand Crossbows are a Demon Hunter-exclusive ranged weapon type in Diablo III. Thank dan, but what about reloading As written you still need to reload the hand crossbow as normal. You add you ability modifier to all attacks as normal using Crossbow Expert. You have a character who wants to use a Hand Crossbow in one hand and a rapier in the other w/ Crossbow Expert.ĭo you add your dex mod to the crossbow shot, or does it count as dual-wielding?ĭo you care about reloading while holding a sword? It is not using the two-weapon fighting rules.
